GOVERNMENT RAISES PUBLIC SERVANTS SALARY BY AT LEAST FIFTEEN PER CENT

In a recent move to regularize the salaries of public servants, the Honourable Deputy Governor, Perin Bradley, through the Ministry of Finance, has announced that a salary increase of at least 15% will be applied to public officers’ salaries in short order.

This decision comes after some degree of controversy over civil servants’ salaries in mid-June when many public workers were disgruntled over what was considered a lack of fairness in adjustments to salaries due to discrepancies in calculations. As a consequence Deputy Governor Perin Bradley announced a “meaningful pause” on June 14, 2026, to allow further consultation following widespread feedback.

According to a Radio Anguilla newscast on August 15th, the Government has agreed to a minimum of a 15% salary increase for all public officers under the revised Public Service Compensation Review. The announcement was made in a communiqué from Deputy Governor, Perrin Bradley, who said the formal review, appeals and grievance process have now been concluded.

The newscast stated that there had been a total of 125 appeals and grievances that were submitted and considered. Officers who filed appeals or grievances began receiving written decisions from August 10th.

The Deputy Governor clarified that the 15% increase is just a minimum salary floor and not an across-the-board adjustment. Officers whose increases were made under the independent Price-Waterhouse-Coopers Job Evaluation exceeding 15% will retain those higher increases.

It was reported that approximately 78% of public officers are expected to receive increases of 19% or more while approximately 43% will receive increases exceeding 25%. The review has affected approximately 1,300 public officers across the Government employ. Revised appointment instruments, payroll adjustments and other administrative processes are now being completed by the Department of Public Administration, the Treasury, DITES and the ministries and departments.

Retroactive payments covering May through July were scheduled to begin on a rolling basis from Friday August 14th. Payments will be processed as individual ministries and departments submit the required information to the treasury. All retroactive payments are expected to be completed by Friday, August 21st.
