The Top Hill Basketball Club is proud to declare the successful completion of the 3rd Annual ‘Reach One Teach One – Building Bridges to Success’ Summer Basketball Camp, held from July 6th to 10th, 2026 at the North Hill Basketball Court and the Four Seasons Resort’s premier court.
The camp welcomed over 75 young campers each day, which organisers says reflects the growing enthusiasm and strong community support for youth basketball development on the island.
This year featured the return of six student-athletes, five of whom graduated from Menaul High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in May 2026. Campers were especially excited to welcome back standout athlete J’quan Samuels, the two-time reigning New Mexico State Champion in high jump and long jump, and Arizona State Junior Olympics Champion in both events. Samuels was one of the first campers from the inaugural summer camp to be recruited to play high school basketball and also picked up track and field as an additional sporting discipline.
The 2026 camp was expertly led by Coach Najmuddin Ahmad, Head of Basketball Operations at Reach One Teach One and Founder of A Pharaoh’s Touch, alongside coaches Roger Farrington and Terrell Theophile. Their expertise, energy, and mentorship greatly inspired all participants.
Building on the success of previous years, older campers once again took on assistant coaching roles during the morning sessions, working alongside the coaches with younger athletes aged 6 to 15. Evening sessions fostered greater community integration, with participation from Four Seasons guests, and older campers aged 16 to 22.
A major highlight was the continued creation of pathways to opportunity with several campers identified to pursue partial scholarships to study and play basketball at Menaul High School in New Mexico.
President of the Top Hill Basketball Club Mrs. Evette Harrigan expressed her gratitude saying, “We are deeply thankful to our many generous sponsors, volunteers, the tireless leadership of Mr. Beresford Mack, Director of Reach One Teach One, and the dedication of Coach Najmuddin Ahmad and his team. Their commitment has not only raised the level of our camp but has truly transformed lives, giving young Anguillans real opportunities to excel both academically and as athletes.”
Mr. Beresford Mack, Director of Reach One Teach One, added that “This partnership is a testament to the power of collaboration in youth development. With the support we’ve received, we can provide an even better experience for our campers and coaches. Together, we are building bridges to success for young people in Anguilla.”
With its expanding reach, innovative programming, and strong partnerships, the Reach One Teach One Building Bridges to Success Summer Basketball Camp continues to serve as a beacon of hope and inspiration for Anguilla’s youth.
