Campers and Facilitators

In recent times, the month of August has been infiltrated with a host of activities in order to keep young students occupied while out of school for the long vacation. These activities are termed “camps”, and they usually draw a great deal of interest from the young ones whose parents are glad to “have them go”.
During the week of August 17th to 21st, 2026 The “Creatives Club”, a non-profit organization debuted excited activities through its first Summer camp held at the Campus B complex and managed by Camp Lead, Janet Guzman.

This Summer camp inspired children ages 10-18, encouraging them to explore a variety of art forms through hands-on experiences guided by expert facilitators.

Among the many art forms offered, the camp featured Beat Production with Kerwyn Goddard in collaboration with the Anguilla Music Academy; Film Content Creation with Celina Hodge; Bushe and Alvincii; Dance with Amelia Olivacce and Kalayah Heredia-Gardner; Visual Arts with Carmel Gumbs and Elianna Guzman; and the Art of Calypso with Roxanne Webster. The children also had sessions regarding Financial Literacy presented by the Liberty Credit Union.

Through their experiences the young, practicing creatives were able to make two original songs (including beat production and lyric composition). They were also able to learn two dance choreographies, as well as to create three visual art pieces. In addition, they made several short films with the contents about their time spent at camp.
The Creatives’ Club has accomplished its first step towards its aim to strengthen the arts sector and advocate for the value of the arts within the community. This is Phase One of the Club’s objectives as it aims towards supporting artists at all stages of their creative journey by providing resources, networking opportunities, and platforms for artistic expression.

The Club’s goal is to ultimately build an inclusive creative community that celebrates artistic excellence, cultural heritage, innovation, and collaboration while contributing to Anguilla’s social, cultural, and economic development.
The 5-day camp concluded on Friday, August 21st with a presentation of all the art works, witnessed by the parents and guardians of the participants.
