Work on the Rafael T. Lake Road and the lower section of the Albert Lake Drive will soon begin, and discussions are already underway with the businesses that will be impacted by the disruption of traffic in the area.

The Honourable Minister of Infrastructure, Jose Vanterpool, provided the public with an update on the undertaking during Government’s Press Conference on Monday, May 4th.

“As it relates to these two roads, consultations with the businesses that are likely to be affected by the construction are currently ongoing. The bill of quantities is being prepared and other elements of the bidding documentation will be soon sent to the procurement office for review.

“Once we are given the ‘green light’ by procurement,” he said, “these roads will be opened for the competitive tendering process.”
The Minister also stated that a contract has been already issued to Best Turn Consulting Limited for the road surface rehabilitation programme. “A contract has been signed with Best Turn Consulting Limited, the firm responsible for undertaking the design of the road resurfacing works,” he said. “The process of data collection is currently ongoing, and a team of Best Turn consultants will be on island on the week of May 11th for discussions.”

Meanwhile, in other road development works, construction on the South Hill Road to the Jeremiah Gumbs Highway is ongoing and is expected to be completed by next month (June). In addition, work on the Sandy Hill Beach Road is nearing completion with roadside fencing being installed and cleanup with road markings currently underway.

The Sandy Hill Beach Road is expected to be completed within this month, May.
