The court at the James Ronald Webster Park came alive this week as the 2026 ANGLEC Inter-Primary School Netball Tournament began on Monday, 27th April 2026.
Running through to Wednesday, 6th May 2026, the afternoon competition has already delivered a compelling mix of youthful energy, sharp competition and school pride, with five primary schools vying for early bragging rights and, ultimately, the championship title.
From the opening whistle, it was clear that the Morris Vanterpool Primary (MVPS) Red Dragons came prepared to make a statement. In the tournament’s first game, they rose to a commanding 19–7 victory over Alwyn Allison Richardson Primary (AARPS) Grey Wolves, setting the tone for what has quickly become one of the tournament’s dominant storylines. The Red Dragons maintained that intensity into Tuesday, 28 April 2026 — this time defeating the Orealia Kelly Primary (OKPS) Pink Panthers 19–6 in a display of consistency and attacking strength.
Meanwhile, Valley Primary (VPS) Golden Horses stamped their own authority early, comfortably outpacing the Vivien Vanterpool Primary (VVPS) Green Gators 12–2 on opening day. The Green Gators, however, showed resilience on Tuesday, 28 April 2026, despite falling 12–7 to the AARPS Grey Wolves, who rebounded strongly after their opening loss.
Beyond the scores, the atmosphere at the Park has been one of excitement and community spirit. Parents, coaches, teachers and classmates gathered courtside, cheering every pass, interception and goal, transforming the venue into a vibrant hub of after-school activity. For many spectators, the tournament represents a celebration of discipline, teamwork and youth development on the island.
As the tournament continues, attention now turns to the midweek match-ups. As of this writing, the VVPS Green Gators are set to face the OKPS Pink Panthers on Wednesday 29th April, followed by VPS Golden Horses taking on AARPS Grey Wolves.
The tournament will continue on Thursday, 30th April 2026, with OKPS Pink Panthers facing VPS Golden Horses, before VVPS Green Gators challenge the MVPS Red Dragons. The tournament will then resume on Monday, 4th May.
With several matches still to be played before the final placings rounds begin, the competition remains wide open. Yet if the opening days are any indication, spectators can expect more fast-paced action, emerging rivalries and standout performances from young athletes eager to leave their mark.
