Team Hoyas

The 2012 Basketball Tournament concluded over the weekend and a new champion has been crowned.  Hoyas have once again proven that they still have what it takes to be the top basketball team in Anguilla.  In a best of 3 finals, Hoyas won both Saturday and Sunday night games.  After their loss on Saturday, 52 – 60 defending champs Shottaz fail to regroup in order to regain the championship.   Machwirr Louis of Hoyas was outstanding in both games scoring 30 points and claiming 13 rebounds in Saturdays’ game.  On Sunday, he led the way once again for Hoyas with 29 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists.  The final score on Sunday was Shottaz – 62 and Hoyas -75.

The Department of Sports received an invitation for basketball teams to participate in a Basketball Tournament in St. Barths on Sunday 27th May, 2012. Anguilla will be represented by three basketball teams in a triangular competition.   Participating countries include St. Martin,Anguilla and host country St.Barths. The matches will be played amongst three age-categories; 10 -12 and 13 -15 year old boys; and adults.  The group will leave Anguilla on Sunday at 7:00 am and return at 6:00 pm same day.
