The Department of Youth and Culture-Youth Affairs Division welcomed a dynamic group of 15 to 16-year-old students from Princess Margaret Secondary School’s Business Studies Unit to Anguilla for an inspiring week of overseas work experience. Their placements are scheduled to wrap up on Friday 3rd July 2026, leaving them with invaluable skills, cultural insights, and unforgettable memories from their time on the island.
The students embarked on this educational voyage from Sunday, 28th June, through Saturday, 4th July 2026, accompanied by their dedicated Business Studies teacher, Ms. Zona Vincere Barthley-Cochrane, and a supportive parent, Mrs. Carol-Jean. The initiative aimed to provide practical exposure to key government departments and financial institutions in Anguilla, fostering a deeper understanding of public service and business operations.
Kicking off with a warm welcome dinner at Paper’s BBQ on Sunday evening, the week was filled with engaging activities and meaningful learning experiences. Over the period of five (5) days, the students gained hands-on experience at ten (10) esteemed government departments and institutions, including:
1. Immigration Department
2. Department of Health – Health Information & Medical Records
3. Liberty Credit Union
4. Department of Natural Resources
5. Department of Information Technology and E-Government Services (D.I.T.E.S.)
6. Ministry of Social Development – Community Services Planning Unit
7. Anguilla Football Association
8. Anguilla Youth Business Foundation
9. Ministry of Finance (MOF)
10. Inland Revenue Department
Throughout their placements, the students showcased enthusiasm, professionalism, and a keen eagerness to learn. They have expressed sincere gratitude to the host Government Departments and Institutions, inclusive of Liberty Credit Union, Anguilla Youth Business Foundation/Innovate Anguilla and Anguilla Football Association for their generous support and mentorship, which significantly contributed to making their Anguillian experience both memorable and impactful.
As the week concludes, the Department of Youth and Culture-Youth Affairs Division extends heartfelt appreciation to everyone involved for helping shape the next generation of responsible, globally minded citizens.
