It is with great sadness that we remember Robin and Sue Ricketts, whose remarkable legacy lives on following Sue’s passing on 10 July, 2025 and Robin’s passing on 8 July, 2026.
In 1984, following his departure from Malliouhana, Robin contacted Peter Venison, business partner of Dion Friedland, to help identify investors for the vision that would become Cap Juluca. Together with his wife, Sue, he introduced a group of loyal Anguilla visitors who believed in the island’s future and invested in what would become one of the Caribbean’s most iconic luxury resorts.
Anguilla’s emergence as a world-renowned luxury destination owes much to Robin and Sue’s belief in the island at a time when tourism was still in its infancy. Through their passion, credibility and unwavering confidence, they inspired others to invest not only in a hotel, but in the future of Anguilla.
Robin believed that the island’s greatest asset was its people. He often spoke of the warmth, kindness and authenticity of Anguillians, recognising that these qualities would define the guest experience and set Anguilla apart.
To the employees of Cap Juluca, Robin was far more than a developer. He was a mentor, teacher and, to many, a father figure. He believed in people, recognised their potential and guided them with patience, humility and genuine care, helping many grow both professionally and personally.
Robin’s vision transformed more than a beautiful stretch of coastline. It created opportunities for generations of Anguillians, developed local talent and helped establish Cap Juluca as a symbol of world-class hospitality.
A number of Cap Juluca colleagues last met and spoke to Robin on 8th April during an afternoon tea that the hotel organised for the residents of the Just Tender Care Home that we support. Although weakened by illness, his spirit shone through and we laughed together.
Their contributions to Cap Juluca, and to the tourism industry of Anguilla, is immeasurable. Their legacy lives on through the resort, the community and the many lives they touched. They will always be remembered with gratitude, admiration and deep respect.
