The Department of Youth and Culture is pleased to officially introduce Ms. Tyeisha Emmanuel and Mr. Kasem Thompson as Anguilla’s newly appointed CARICOM Youth Ambassadors (CYAs), with Ms. Sari-Lee Benjamin and Mr. Jharik Richardson serving as Alternate CARICOM Youth Ambassadors from the 29th April 2026.
The appointments mark a significant step in strengthening youth representation and ensuring that the voices, perspectives, and priorities of Anguillian youth are actively reflected within regional discussions and initiatives across the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).
As CARICOM Youth Ambassadors, Ms. Emmanuel and Mr. Thompson will serve as advocates for young people, promoting dialogue on issues affecting youth development, education, health, climate action, entrepreneurship, culture, and civic participation. They will also work to bridge communication between regional CARICOM youth platforms and young people within Anguilla, while encouraging greater youth engagement in national and regional development processes.
Supporting them in this mandate are Alternate Ambassadors Ms. Benjamin and Mr. Richardson, who will contribute to youth advocacy efforts, assist in programme implementation, and ensure continuity in representation and engagement activities.
The CARICOM Youth Ambassador Programme provides a platform for young leaders across the Caribbean to champion issues impacting their peers while developing leadership, diplomacy, and advocacy skills. Through their appointments, Anguilla continues to invest in cultivating a generation of informed, empowered, and action-oriented youth leaders.
These appointments come at a time when youth participation remains increasingly important in shaping policies and programmes that influence sustainable development and social progress throughout the Caribbean.
