As from September coming, the people of Anguilla are to be given a five percent break on the amount of Property Tax they will be required to pay.
In addition, they will get another five percent reduction if their Property Tax is paid in full on or before September 1, 2021.

The Acting Comptroller of Inland Revenue, Mr. Lonnie Hobson, made the disclosure. He further announced that property owners could benefit from the discounted rate even if their arrears remained unpaid.

He was at the time speaking during the Government’s presentation of its Mid-Year Medium Term Economic and Fiscal Plan 2021, in the Anguilla House of Assembly on Monday, July 26.

“We understand the financial strain everyone is feeling due to the [COVID] pandemic, and we want to allow the maximum number of persons to benefit from the discount,” he stated. “For those who already paid their current Property Tax, the discount will be automatically applied to your account.”
Mr. Hobson pointed out that the existing Property Tax measures remained in place. These include a reduction in taxable value of 50,000 EC dollars on all residential buildings which will be automatically applied.

In addition, a reduction of 250,000 dollars in taxable value is being given to all Anguillians who are 65 years or older. The reduction applies to one residential building only.

Mr. Hobson urged all persons, who are eligible for the senior citizen’s exemption, but have not applied for it, to visit the Property Tax Unit in the Inland Revenue Department for further information.
