It is without doubt that Festival Del Mar is now one of the most anticipated festivals on the island’s annual roster of events for both nationals of Anguilla and visitors to the island. Easter break on Anguilla has become synonymous with Festival Del Mar and Festival Del Mar continues to bring color, splendor and flare to the Island Harbour community.

The Festival, in its 9th year, is expected to be another success and it is anticipated that returning patrons and novices to the Festival will come with high hopes. The organizing committee, under the leadership of its Chairman Mr. Matthew ‘Mic’ Webster, is already advancing with plans for this year’s event and there is no room for disappointment. The Festival continues to grow regionally and, as word gets around, Festival Del Mar is spreading its wings internationally as one of “the most delicious food festivals in the Caribbean”. The acclaimed USA Today newspaper, distributed throughout the United States, has featured Festival Del Mar in its travel segment topping the list of “The Region’s Best Food Festivals”. The article which was published early in January has helped to create a much appreciated buzz for this year’s event. Festival Del Mar will be the first festival to be launched from the island’s 2016 Calendar of Events.

The dates are set for Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th March, 2016 when Festival Del Mar celebrates “All things of the sea”! The committee is working assiduously on the night time featured entertainment which, next to the day’s food, has become something to look forward to. The scheduled activities for the day will include on sea and land games, competitions and tournaments. The weekend event opens with the 5:00 a.m. Deep Sea Fishing Tournament which attracts competitors out of Anguilla, St. Maarten and St. Martin, and includes 2 days of boat racing of Anguillian A-Class and B-Class boats. The family fun-filled weekend is quickly becoming an annual homecoming reunion for families and friends of Anguilla. It is loaded with traditional cooking centered on seafood, stage performances and activities suited for children and adults.
