“This year it was very important to LIME to be a part of the Carnival 40 celebrations,” said Jade Reymond, Marketing and Corporate Communications Manager. “Our community is extremely dear to us, and 40 years of carnival is synonymous with our 43rd Anniversary which we will be celebrated very shortly.

“It was important for us to maintain our relationships, as well as to be able to continue to build new relationships with the community and to be part of this momentous occasion.”
The recipients of the key sponsorships are: the Leeward Islands Calypso Monarch Competition, now celebrating its 17th anniversary, $40,000.

The LIME Soca Monarch Competition: $30,000. LIME considers this to be its brainchild and is a big contributor to soca in Anguilla as well as in the region.

Panther Vibes International: $18,000. LIME has been sponsoring this musical group for five or six years.

The Anguilla Boat Racing Competition: $14,000. LIME has been the sponsor for more than ten years. This year, LIME has moved the sponsorship from August Monday to August Thursday to bring back the true spirit of August Thursday at Meads Bay.

The other sponsorship recipients include: North Sound International; The XRated Band; Infusion Band; From Within Dance; Island Majorettes; Fantasy 264; Ms Shereena Richardson (Miss Lime).

Carnival 40 officially began on Thursday, July 31 with a grand opening ceremony. The event, now in its 40th year, had a soft launch on Wednesday, July 2, with a number of preliminary activities.
