The 2013 Anguilla Amateur Volleyball Association Business league got off to a rousing start with six games over the weekend. On Friday 15th, the long arm of the law, team Police arrest any A.L.H.C.S Spartans thought of victory by defeating them with a score of 25, 15; 20: 25 and 15:13. In the second game, team Construction easily disposed of the “Teachers”. Construction, led by Marvin “The machine “Connor capitalized on every error committed by their opponents. Though team “Teachers” improved with every pass it was insufficient to thwart the assault by Construction. The score line was 25, 15 and 24, 18 in favour of team Construction.
In the evenings night cap, ANGEL “Lights out” entertained MICUH “Too cold” in a barn burner of a volleyball match. MICUH, not intimidated by the offensive weapons of ANGLEC’s Jelanie Lawrence, Jason Liburd and Vivien Vanterpool but countered with some power hitting and good defense of their own from Andre “half man, half amazing Samuel and Darren “Noddle” Webster. The match culminated in a narrowMICUH victory over the highly competitive ANGLEC with a score line of 25, 19: 18, 25 and 16, 14.
Saturday night’s action continued heating up as the buoyant Police, tried to limited team Teachers. Unfortunately for the lawmen, team Teachers came prepared with a new lesson plan and executed it perfectly. The score line for the match was 25, 22 and25, 17 in favour of team teachers. In the second game, the once might team “Sports” suffered dearly at the hands of the red hot MICUH. Andre and Darren showed no mercy as they easily cast aside their opponents with a score of 21, 11 and 25, 23.
Seething from their previous loss, team ANGLEC came out to shock their Construction into submission. Neither team seemed willing to surrender as ANGLEC slammed the ball from all areas of the court and Construction would reply with heart throbbing defensive plays. The game ebbed and flowed but team Construction emerged victorious with a score of 14, 25: 25, 22 and 15:9.
