Ms. Benjamin said: “We are proud of our artists’ line up because it portrays who we are: talented, diverse, and deep rooted in our culture.”

Soca artist Viggy Gumbs, a resident of South Valley, said: “Events like the South Valley Community Street Festival are important for not only the vendors and artists, but for the community at large. People of all generations attend this festival – young and old – all embracing one common theme, and that is community.”

Commissioner of Police, Robert Clark, who was also at the launch, encouraged both visitors and residents to attend the festival. He said that officers will be on hand to provide security. “We want you to come out and participate,” he said. “We want you to have an exciting time.”

The Commissioner offered reassurance to the public, stating: “We will be there to keep you safe. All we ask is that you listen to instructions, drink responsibly, and have a great time.”

Also speaking at the launch was the Chairman of the Anguilla Summer Festival, Fitzroy “Briggy” Tomlinson. Government officials were present at the launch as well.
