“Greater with Purpose” is a motivational and empowerment programme for young people between the ages of twelve (12) to eighteen (18) years old. This programme is designed to promote/foster a safe avenue for them to appropriately express their emotions/challenges and receive support or guidance to navigate through life as best as possible.
On July 27 2023, the first session for “Greater with Purpose” was held with a group of young females. The programme commenced with words of encouragement and prayer offered by Reverend V. Celestine. Subsequently, Ms. Roxanne “Queen Roxxy” Webster immersed the participants into sweet calypso with a dynamic singing performance of her new song “You’re a winner”. Additionally, Hon. Shellya Rogers-Webster delivered a captivating session on Conflict Resolution. Participants were given real life scenarios for discussion and solving conflict using the CALM ststrategy. Also, Ms. Arlette Richardson also engaged participants in conversation about transforming pain into power and living their life with purpose. At the end of the conversation, participants had fun doing tiktoc dances and received their goody bags.

Ms. Richardson said “I’ve been thinking and planning for quite some time. It is my desire that this programme will propel them to maximize their full potential and be equipped with the necessary skills and strategies to overcome life’s challenges with grace and perseverance. I’m grateful to everyone that assisted with the execution of my thoughts and plans”.
If you are interested in collaborating, making a contribution, or would like to know more about planned initiatives with regards to the programme, please email Arlette.Richardson@gov.ai.
Ms. Richardson is currently a social worker at the Department of Social Development.
