The Police Report presented by Inspector Emris Rogers, showed that eleven serious crimes were committed in Anguilla during the period January 2-9.
On Monday, January 7, at about 10 am, the police received a report that a burglary was in progress in the Little Harbour area. By the time the police arrived, the burglars had left. However, during a search of the surrounding area, the police found Royden George of South Valley and Livingston Connor of North Side with certain property in their possession. Further investigation revealed that two homes in the area were burglarised and that there were signs of an attempted burglary at another home. Both George and Connor were arrested and taken to Police Headquarters.
Four other burglaries were reported at the Cove, Cauls Bottom, George Hill and Pelican Bay. Among the stolen items were tiles, a flat screen television set, electronic items, jewellery and a sum of money.
There were four thefts at South Hill, Sandy Ground, Blowing Point and North Valley. The stolen items included water, a bicycle, car parts, a gold chain and money.
Five arrests were made during the period as follows: one male to prevent a breach of the peace; one male on suspicion of theft; one female for grievous bodily harm; and two males for burglary.
On Saturday, January 5, at about 2.40 pm, the police responded to a report of an incident in which a man was beating his girlfriend in The Valley. On arrival it was reported that K.M. of North Hill had wounded her partner, E.C. of The Valley, who was beating her. E.C. was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital by ambulance. There, he was admitted with a wound to his chest area.
K.M. was arrested and charged with causing grievous bodily harm. K.M. appeared before the Magistrate’s Court on Monday, January 7, and was granted bail until January 14.
On Saturday, January 5, at about 11.45 am, the police responded to a report from Her Majesty’s Prison that an inmate was cutting the bars in a bathroom. The police discovered that a number of bars were already cut and were fitted back as normal. The matter is under investigation.
