ELITE RIDER DARON CARTY WINS JUNE 11TH KING OF THE HILL RACE

Kings Of the Hill Race Winners

The Shoal Bay Back Road leading to Island Harbour was the venue for the 2023 King of the Hill Race, hosted by the Anguilla Cycling Association (ACA).

The Sunday 11th June race was part of the preparation for the local cyclists who will compete in the 2023 John T Cycle Race, and it offered double points for the participants.

PRO for the ACA Derick Carty said the race was challenging and competitive, with varying laps for the different categories of cyclists. The Elite cyclists had to complete 8 laps, the Juniors and Masters A 6 laps, the Masters B and Cadets 4 laps, and the Novice cyclists 3 laps.
A total of 17 cyclists took part in this race which tested their skills and endurance to conquer the hills of Shoal Bay.

The winners of the various categories were;
ELITE (8 Laps): 1st place – Daron Carty; 2nd place – Delroy Carty; 3rd place – Sherwin Osbourne
MASTERS A (6 Laps): 1st place – Benjamin Phillip; 2nd place – Allyndel Sylvester; 3rd place – Kurtz Lloyd
JUNIORS (6 Laps): 1st place – Demitri Niles
MASTERS B (4 Laps): 1st place – John Charley; 2nd place – Raoul Rodriguez; 3rd place – Eucal Gumbs
CADET (4 Laps): 1st place – Kamari Ruan
NOVICE (3 Laps): 1st place – Irwin Reid; 2nd place – Carlos Alvarez;3rd place – Ryjhorn Charles

The ACA has extended a big THANK YOU to Blue Rey Lyn for sponsoring prizes for the race and the Royal Anguilla Police Force for ensuring the streets were safe.

The Next Event is a BREAKFAST “FUN RIDE” FUNDRAISING ACTIVITY on Monday 19th June, 2023. Participants need not to be a pro cyclist, just bring their bikes and appetites. It starts and ends at the South Hill Ball Field (across from Greig’s Trucking). The fun starts at 6am, but participants are asked to be there by 5:30am with their bikes and safety gear. A delicious breakfast with bush tea will be available for US$10.00.
