On Tuesday 11th April, 2023, the law firm of KCW et al closed its doors and a new partnership between Mrs. Keesha C. Carty and Ms. Nakishma S. A. Rogers emerged to take its place under the partnership name: KCW Carty & Rogers.

Mrs. Carty formerly operated as a sole practitioner under the law firm KCW et al for the last 17 years and after achieving much success, felt the need to prioritize family life and therefore made the bold decision to partner with Ms. Rogers who joined the firm on 6th September 2022. Ms. Rogers immediately swung into gear meeting the demands of a private firm serving a varied cadre of clientele.

On the partnership and the Open House Mrs. Carty stated, “The word that saturates my mind is grateful – grateful to God for opening and closing doors in my life; grateful for my incredible support system; grateful to have found a business partner of like mind, dedication, work ethic and superior intellect; grateful for an opportunity to expand our services and reach so that serving remains a privilege and not a burden; grateful to be Anguillian and to serve our island with talents birth[ed] in us and invested in us by our nation. As two island scholars, we have not lost sight of the fact that we were invested into by Anguillians for the advancement of Anguilla and the benefit of Anguillians. For that reason, we will never stop serving. Thanks to all those who propelled us in one way or another over the years. KCW Carty & Rogers is our next chapter in our journey to success, but it isn’t our end. With Christ all things are possible, and we will be anxious for nothing but in all things, through prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, make our requests known unto the Lord and wait for Him to action them if it is His will.”
Apart from the similarities highlighted by Mrs. Carty, both partners attended and graduated from the University of West Indies Cave Hill Campus and Norman Manley Law school respectively. The new partners also share a passion for teaching with Mrs. Carty being a former teacher and lecturer at the Albena Lake Hodge Comprehensive School, University of the West Indies Open Campus and the Anguilla Community College; and Ms. Rogers currently lecturing at the American University of Anguilla (AUA).
Their differences seem to emerge in their various passions and strengths in the law. Ms. Rogers has a background in criminal defense and prosecution following a six-year stint at the Attorney General’s Chambers where she exited as Senior Crown Counsel. She also has experience in civil litigation, and a passion for Administrative law. Mrs. Carty on the other hand specializes in Corporate and Commercial law, Real Estate & Developments, Probate and Family Law.

In fact, Ms. Rogers candidly stated that, “A big part of my decision to accept this gracious offer to partner with Keesha was borne out of a desire to expand my knowledge and grow in my profession by exploring new areas of practice. Keesha liberally shares her expansive knowledge in her areas of expertise and while I have a Masters degree in Corporate and Commercial law, by working with Keesha I am now able to put it to use serving the clients that entrust us with their important legal affairs.”

On 11th April, 2023, the first day of the new business, the pair hosted an Open House for their family, friends and well-wishers, their colleagues and most importantly their existing clientele, who enjoyed a variety of eats, drinks and décor from local vendors including “Chef Kylon’s catering, Cheesecakin’ It by Kennelva Brooks, Geraud’s Catering, Yum Yum by Ruthy’s, Js Dream Cakes, Paul’s Cakes, Tropical Distributors, All About You, Intriket Events & Designs, Rainbow Supermarket, Vernice Proctor and Kathleen Rogers. The partners were also happy to display their new logo, branding and stationery created and procured by Rudy Webster of 5 Star media, their new signage by Ron’s Sign Shop and their new website www.cartyandrogers.ai and digital assets by Alrand Webster.
The MISSION STATEMENT of KCW Carty & Rogers is: “To serve God in our practice, serve the profession by maintaining high ethical standards and serve our clients by being forthright and professional.”
KCW Carty & Rogers is situated in the same location as the old firm which is at Suite # 2, Pat Ban Building, George Hill, Anguilla. Telephone No: (264) 497 7240. More information about the firm can be found on their website www.cartyandrogers.
