We are pleased to announce that a team of 13 athletes will be representing Anguilla in the XXII Commonwealth Games, to be held in Birmingham, UK, from the 28 July – 08 August 2022. Athletes from across 72 Commonwealth nations will compete at this event.
The Commonwealth Games is a sporting event that occurs every 4 years and can take place in any of the 72 Commonwealth countries or territories in the world.
Team Anguilla comprises 1 female athletic athlete, 5 male athletic athletes, 2 male boxers, 4 male cyclists and, for the very first time, 1 swimming athlete.
Accompanying the athletes will be a total of 6 officials/coaches (plus the Chef de Mission):
General Team Manager, Rollins Richardson and Perry Richardson will be the officials/coaches for the track & field team; Victor Carty will be the boxing coach; Calvert Fleming and Sharon Lowe with be the officials/coaches for the cycling team; Tyrone Hughes will be the coach for swimming.
Also accompanying the team will be board members of the ACGA; Kenn Banks – President, Cardigan Connor – Vice President/Chef de Mission and Althea Hodge – Secretary General.
The athletes and 3 officials will depart Anguilla on Thursday, 14 July, 2022, to participate in a training camp in the UK for 1 week before they move into the Games Village.
The remaining officials/coaches will travel around the 23 July.
