Since its establishment as Anguilla’s electricity provider, ANGLEC has depended on fuel suppliers like Delta and Sol to keep its generators fuelled and providing electricity to homes, businesses and shared public spaces across the island.

Despite both companies’ litigious relationship in recent times, Delta had been the most recent supplier of fuel to ANGLEC.

In July 2022, the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court, Anguilla, High Court heard an application made by Delta against ANGLEC in open court proceedings. The issue before the court was whether an injunction filed by Delta against ANGLEC should continue, thereby restricting ANGLEC’s ability to engage in a tender process for a new fuel supply agreement.

The Hon. Justice Ermin Moise formed the opinion – having heard full arguments – that the injunction against ANGLEC should be discharged. The High Court ruling freed ANGLEC to proceed with its tender process for a new fuel supply agreement.

By close of business on Friday, July 29, ANGLEC’s tender process closed with bids submitted by Delta and Sol.

On Thursday, September 1, 2022, ANGLEC announced that the tender process had resulted in a new fuel agreement and, for the next three years, Sol would be the fuel supplier. ANGLEC and Sol entered into a contractual agreement with effect September 1, 2022 – August 31, 2025.
