The Ministry of Health has received 400 pediatric Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine doses for children ages 5 to 11 years old. Therefore, COVID-19 vaccination for this age group will resume at the Welches Polyclinic from Friday May 20th 1:30-3:45pm and on a weekly published schedule until stocks last. Children ages 5 to 11 years old who received a first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine on or before April 1st 2022, are now due for their second dose and are especially encouraged to attend and complete their COVID-19 vaccination series.

Furthermore, the Expanded Immunization Programme will be conducting vaccinations for DPT, Polio and HPV for select age groups at schools this upcoming week. Children due to receive their 2nd dose of COVID-19 or who are interested in starting their vaccination for COVID-19, are advised to obtain their COVID-19 vaccination first as the current batch of COVID-19 vaccines will expiry on July 7th 2022. Therefore, children will have an opportunity to catch up on their other vaccinations following completion of their COVID-19 vaccination course.

Additionally, second boosters for those who received a first booster four to six months ago will also commence at polyclinics the week of May 23rd on a weekly published schedule. Second boosters will be prioritized for persons 50 years and older; persons with underlying conditions (such as diabetes, heart disease, cancer…); immunocompromised persons and front line workers. Such persons who have not yet had their first booster are also encouraged to do so.
