Coach, Team Manager and Athletes

The Ministry of Education and Social Development extends best wishes to the Athletes, Coach and Team Manager, who travelled to Jamaica to compete in the 2022 CARIFTA Games.

The 49th staging of the Games will be held from April 16 – 18th at the National Stadium in Kingston. Regarded as one of the Caribbean’s premier track and field events, twenty-seven countries will compete in U17 and U20 track & field, middle distance track competitions, sprint races, hurdle races as well as many jumping, throwing and relay events. Junior athletes have capitalised on this stage to make their mark towards athletic greatness and have introduced the world to Shara Proctor, Zharnel Hughes – and even Usain Bolt.

Team Anguilla comprises: Tashanta Brooks – Team Manager, Alexis Ryan – Coach; and athletes Thalia Hinds, Sage Connor, Tajhjani Brooks, Terrone Webster and JoQuan Richardson.

Commenting on Team Anguilla’s participation in the competition, the Honourable Minister of Education and Social Development, Miss Dee-Ann Kentish-Rogers stated, “I draw on the words of Picabo Street which says, ‘To uncover your true potential you must first find your own limits and then you have to have the courage to blow past them’. The Government of Anguilla, and by extension the entire country, extend our full support to our athletes as they represent us at the highest level of regional competition. I am confident that they will do their best and make us all proud. I look forward to victory not only because they have proven themselves as the best in their class but because, in my interaction with them, they have shown great courage, pride and determination. I invite us all to view and cheer on our athletes in their races – starting with the heats on 16th and medal races on 18th April.”
