The next step to formalise a fully functioning Government Information Service (GIS) will bring to fruition the launch of a weekly radio programme titled ‘Progress Report’. All radio stations have been contacted to air the pre-recorded programme and as such, a detailed schedule is forthcoming once the details are finalised during the week of April 4th.

“Progress Report – Updates and Conversations from the Government Information Service” is the newest initiative in a series of public relations efforts aimed at providing clear, transparent and consistent dialogue between the Government of Anguilla (GoA) and the general public. The programme will also be catalogued on the GoA’s official YouTube page. Plans and considerations of the best practices, as well as the necessary supporting instruments including an official repository of information which will further facilitate the full GIS roll-out, are currently being discussed.

Commenting on the GIS radio programme, Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ivan M. Connor stated: “Government is fully aware that a 360 Communications Approach is the correct model to satisfy the community’s appetite for information. This will also ensure that each Minister of Government, ministry and department is sufficiently supported in their engagements internally and externally. Radio plays an important role in the dissemination of information. Carrying the live weekly press conferences via this resource, as well as having the Ministers and other public servants participate in scheduled programmes still leaves a niche need for a pointed and unedited covering of the happenings within and throughout Government. ‘Progress Report’ will service that need. To date, we continue to have a very strong online presence via the social media platforms and the newspapers. However, there is a large sector of the community who tune in to the radio to keep them abreast. With such an active administration, I believe inclusive and thought-provoking conversations about the efforts of our Government is of critical importance as this affects us all. I look forward to hearing from the general public when the programme is launched so we can be sure we are sharing information that matters to everyone.”
