The Anguilla Progressive Movement (APM) electoral candidate for Sandy Hill District 2 tendered his letter of resignation from the party on Wednesday, March 23.
Mr Jerome Roberts was an elected member of the Anguilla United Movement (AUM), and served as a Minister of government during the 2010-2015 AUM administration. The current APM (political party) is a rebranding of the AUM (political party).
A copy of his letter addressed to the Leader of the APM – Dr. Ellis Webster, was sent to The Anguillian newspaper to be shared with the general public. The letter is re-printed below in its entirety and unedited by The Anguillian newspaper:

Ref: Resignation as a Member of the Anguilla Progressive Movement (APM)
Dear Dr. E. Webster,
It is with a heavy heart that I must now pen this letter of resignation as a member of the Anguilla Progressive Movement.
Initially, this Movement prided itself, not solely on openness but on transparency as well; however, currently, it has yet to demonstrate itself approved. Personally, the manner in which you and the rest of the team handled the candidates who were unsuccessful in the June 2020 Elections is profoundly disappointing.
In my esteemed opinion, as an unsuccessful member of your party, I felt not only disregarded but the key supporters in District 2 as well who went above and beyond to see the success of this party, in hopes to win the June 2020 elections.
Sadly, it was promised by you, the leader of this party, that the grass roots members would have been included in the input of ideas and decisions so that largely, Anguilla would be considered. Instead, your approach has appeared to be one sidelined.
Fortunately, my past political experiences have allowed me to work with other political parties both locally and regionally and the actions which were demonstrated by the Anguilla Progressive Movement have not aligned with what I consider good governance in the best interest of the country.
I believed in this team as I gave my all to see it strive. However, my time has unfortunately come to an end but I do wish you and the remainder of the team the utmost best in your future endeavors and will stand guard to see the campaign trail slogan “Anguilla Re-Imagine” bear fruit as you promised the good people of this our beloved Island.
May God continue to bless your efforts as Leader of the Anguilla Progressive Movement and Premier of Anguilla for your remaining period in office.
Warm Regards,
Jerome Roberts
