As part of the activities marking International Women’s Day and Women’s Week 2022, The University of the West Indies (UWI) Open Campus Anguilla is once again collaborating with the Anglican Church Women Association (ACWA) and the Gender Affairs Unit for the hosting of a special International Women’s Day celebration on March 8, 2022.

This celebration will take place at 4:30 p.m. at the Pro-Cathedral of St. Mary under the theme, “Breaking the Bias: Building a Better Me”. Keynote Speaker for the event is UWI Alumna and Teacher, Mrs. Dayna Connor. A number of women’s organisations and youth representatives are also slated to participate.

International Women’s Day is observed annually on March 8th as the day dedicated to honouring women, celebrating their social, cultural, economic and political achievements, as well as promoting and raising awareness of women’s rights and the need to achieve equality in all areas of life. This year’s theme combines the local and international focus on breaking the biases that continue to challenge the advancement of women and girls and, ultimately, the sustainable development of our societies.
