The National Commercial Bank of Anguilla Limited (NCBA) remains fully committed to being a good corporate citizen. As the people’s bank, opportunities to partner with community stakeholders on key initiatives across the island were explored in 2021 despite the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic. Highlights of the 2021 Sponsorships include:
Donation to Women with Heart – US$1,000
On 3rd December 2021, the Bank was pleased to make a donation of US$1,000 to the Women with Heart Foundation in support of cancer patient, Ms. Collette Jones Chin. Women with Heart Foundation is a local non-profit organisation which has been active in breast cancer awareness and support on island for the past decade. Collette is a well-known personality on Anguilla in the areas of theatre, poetry, visual arts education and therapy, and community work. She founded and operates Senoj Creations and STAGES Anguilla.
Donation to Anguilla Community Foundation — $1,200
The Bank made a donation of US$1,200 to the Anguilla Community Foundation. This donation was made in aid of a Musical Festival promoted by The Morlens School of Music, The Anguilla Music Academy, Sunset Homes and Csuite Business Consulting. The Festival which ran from 18 to 23 January 2022 attracted a World Class one-of-a-kind musical event to Anguilla featuring the World Doctors Orchestra, Emily Bear, along with local musicians. The event was nonprofit in nature and was aimed at showcasing Anguilla on the World stage, stimulating and creating networking and collaboration opportunities for our youth, doctors and musicians. The highlight was a grand benefit concert which was streamed live on IN Anguilla around the globe.
Malliouhana Fest 2021 – US$1,000
NCBA was ho
noured for the second consecutive year to be the Gold sponsor of the Department of Youth and Culture 2021 Malliouhana Fest 17 to 19 December 2021. The Malliouhana Fest is a national celebration where arts, culture, and creativity intersect offering a growing number of free participatory events. This year’s events included, Le We Roam, Tranquil Jazz on the Lawn, Culture on the Road, 6th Annual Cultural and Arts Awards, Limin in the Yard, Art Explosion and Storytelling under the stars, launch of National Dress Competition. The festival aims at educating and promoting direct interaction between creatives and the public with a view to increasing understanding and appreciation of Anguilla’s cultural and artistic sector, fostering of national pride and supporting the creative life that is lived, fashioned and experienced throughout the island.
ACAN – US$800
The Bank continues to support Anguilla Community Action Network with a donation of US$800 towards 15th Anniversary Cancer Outreach Programme which it started in 2006. The 2021 outreach programme was held from 24 November to 3 December 2021 and was a success, which covered a number of testing including Blood test, HIV Testing, Blood Pressure Testing, Cholesterol, Mammogram, and eye checks.
Fire Prevention Week 2021 – US$1,000
The NCBA contributed US1,000 towards the celebration of Fire Prevention Week which ran from 3rd to 9th October 2021. The activities to mark the week included an outreach programme to educate the public on fire safety and fire prevention practices as well as the island wide distribution, installation and servicing of smoke alarms and fire blankets in private homes of the elderly within the Anguilla community. During the week the, Ms. Sharmaine Francois, CEO of the Bank also held a developmental session with the Fire Fighters on savings and budgeting.
Anguilla Enhancement Project – AEP – US$500
NCBA continues to support the Anguilla Enhancement Project, a nonprofit organisation launched in November 2020 with the aim of transforming Anguilla village by village. One of the initiatives to accomplishing this was the launch of the 2021 Best Village Competition which focused on environmental protection and community activism. NCBA is the proud sponsor of the Cleanest Village Award.
