Congratulations are in order for the family of the late journalist and media personality, Ras B – and Aurada Brooks, as their two eldest children graduated from university in the United States.

The two brothers graduated from the Kennesaw State University in Georgia – one with a Master’s and the other with a Bachelor’s degree.

Mr. Whaldama Brooks Jr. obtained a Master of Public Administration degree with a concentration in Government Administration, ending with a Grade Point Average of 3.91.

During his time at Kennesaw, Whaldama served as a Financial Intern at the ‘His Soul Sanctuary’ nonprofit organisation which is geared towards helping youths who have aged out of foster care.

He says his experience at the nonprofit ogranisation inspired him to try and tackle the issue of donor fatigue, and the budgetary issues of relying solely on grants and donations.

In line with his internship, Whaldama decided to explore the matter of social entrepreneurship by submitting his thesis entitled ‘Social Entrepreneurship in an Ethical Environment’.

A major highlight at his time of study included making a presentation to the Georgia Political Science Association on a study entitled, ‘The Carbon Tax and the Effect on the Economy’. The paper was under the theme Innovation and Challenge in Georgia Public Policy, and the presentation was chaired by Dr. Jerry Herbel.

Whaldama previously earned a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the same institution.
His younger brother, Nesta Berhane Brooks, also graduated. He received a Bachelor of Science in Biology with magna cum laude honors.
