The Methodist Church Anguilla Circuit celebrated Christmas in song with its annual Festival of Choirs on the evening of Sunday 19th December, 2021. The event, at the Ebenezer Chapel, was under the theme ‘Hope is Born: Rejoice in the Gift of Jesus’. An appreciative audience was on hand to witness the presentations of choir singing, solos and instrumental selections, interspersed with bible readings from all six congregations in the circuit.
Chair for the programme was the Rev. Vincia Celestine, Superintendent Minister of the Circuit, who welcomed the congregants and opened the programme with a short devotion.
Dressed in festive colours, the Senior Choirs from Immanuel, Zion, Bethel and Maranatha, the Youth Choir from Immanuel and the Ebenezer Men’s Fellowship performed traditional carols, as well as some more contemporary selections. Among the soloists were Sisters Bronte Hazell, Sharon Richardson, fourteen-year-old Danica Lake of the Immanuel Congregation, and the Rev Wilmoth Hodge. The Rev Vincia Celestine surprised the audience with a special calypso-styled Christmas song, which was particularly well-received. Rev Jefferson Niles and his family, who were visiting home for the season, joined in the celebration and treated the audience with selections that included the combination of trumpet, piano, clarinet and voice.
Musicians for the evening included Brothers Devaunie Richardson, Percy Romney, Japheth Niles and Sanford Richardson.
Chair for the programme, the Rev Vincia Celestine, made the closing remarks and gave expressions of thanks, while Rev Wilmoth Hodge, Circuit Minister, offered up the closing prayer and benediction.
