Anguilla’s UK/EU Representative, Ms. Dorothea Hodge, has made the assertion that the British Overseas Territories “are Global Britain.”
She was at the time speaking in an interview from, the UK on Klass FM Radio, in Anguilla, with Mr. Abner Brooks (Hammer) – on Wednesday, November 10.
Responding to a question concerning BREXIT – the withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union and its responsibilities to the Overseas Territories – including Anguilla – as regards “Global Britain”, Ms. Hodge commented:
“I say that without the Overseas Territories there is no Global Britain,” she asserted. “So the Overseas Territories are Global Britain. This is because they provide the footprints for Britain around the world. And we play our role in being part of that global context, because we are spread out across the globe. “So Global Britain” is defined by the footprints of the territories in the South Atlantic, Gibraltar and in the Caribbean.
“We are “Global Britain” so that’s how we very much see that; and we say that because, collectively, 95 percent of the UK’s bio-diversity is in the Overseas Territories. Together, we are the world’s largest marine state. We are Global Britain.”
