Government officials, hospitality professionals, and a throng of supporters joined the Connor family on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 to celebrate the traditional blessing of the Makana Ferry at Crocus Bay in Anguilla at 5pm.

Reverend Wilmoth Hodge officiated the ceremony on board the 72’ Sabre catamaran vessel. After a short sea tour, Captain Dwayne Hodge addressed the gathering, and thanked his uncle and family for having confidence in him. “You have entrusted me with this vessel and I look forward to being the captain until I retire,” he said. Honourable Mr. Haydn Hughes congratulated the family, and declared that the vessel was an achievement, not just for the Connor family, but for Anguilla as a whole. “This is our family legacy, and after a long and challenging process, we are proud of this moment,” said Mr. Samuel “Blues” Connor, who went on to explain the Makana Journey. The vessel is scheduled to begin ferry service between the islands of Saba, Statia and St. Maarten later this month, and St. Kitts in the future.
