With most of the bigger properties now temporary closed for the so-called slow season, the Anguilla Great House is taking centre stage as one of the island’s small luxury hotels which is open all-year round.

TripAdvisor, an American online travel company, states that the Anguilla Great House is a 2-5 star hotel on the Rendezvous Bay beachfront with two bars/lounges and an outdoor pool.

The company listed some of the more popular amenities offered at the Great House as including free wifi; pool; an onsite restaurant; flat Television screens; air-conditioning; and low and attractive rates.

The Great House has been further described as “a relaxed Anguilla resort with a ‘complete package’. TripAdvisor further states: “This charming property features a number of comfortable units just a few yards from the beach. It is rich in classic West Indian charm. Gingerbread-style buildings fan out on a grassy beachfront lawn that opens to Rendezvous Bay.

“Well-manicured gardens and pathways lined, with native flowers and palms, all create a distinct tropical feel.

“The experience all begins in the hotel’s comfortable and lofty lobby. The lobby opens to a walkway that leads to the hotel’s restaurant, and bar coconuts, its pool, rooms and of course, the beach.”

Rendezvous Bay is one of Anguilla’s historic beaches. It was the site of the invasion of the island by two French frigates in 1796, whose forces were repelled from Sandy Hill Fort, by brave Anguillians, as they marched up the island.

The Anguilla Great House was severely damaged by Hurricane Irma in September 2017. It was eventually restored at much cost by its principal owner and builder, Mr. Conrad Walton Fleming, known for his patriotism and resilience and a leading figure in the vanguard of the 1967 Anguilla Revolution.
