The Acting Premier and I would like to take this opportunity to update you on the current Covid-19 situation as discussed at Executive Council today, 1 July.

We are delighted to say that Anguilla remains covid free and that from today we are open and welcoming fully vaccinated visitors back to our island. This is a fantastic achievement, and again we must pay thanks to our health team in managing the pandemic, as well as the collective efforts of the public service and the community for playing your part.

To those of you thinking of visiting, please do come. We wish you a warm welcome and 33 of the world’s best beaches await you. Further information on how to apply to enter Anguilla and on where to stay, eat and what to do can be found at ‘ivisitanguilla.com’

To all residents of Anguilla, we want to reassure you that your safety and security remains our utmost priority. Just like with the returning resident’s programme, and the phased reopening to tourist arrivals from November 2020, this reopening will be carefully managed by our dedicated, experienced and professional health teams.

Visitors will be required to be fully vaccinated with a UK MHRA approved vaccine before entry. They will also need to submit a negative PCR test and will be tested again on arrival, and may be subject to further testing. For multi-generational families comprised of fully vaccinated persons and unvaccinated children under the age of 18 years and/or pregnant woman, the unvaccinated persons in these groups will additionally be required to undergo a subsequent RT-PCR test on Day 4. Persons in these groups will not be under quarantine from arrival to Day 4 testing. This includes unaccompanied children coming from and staying in fully vaccinated households. The same measures will apply to fully vaccinate returning residents. Unvaccinated returning residents will be required to quarantine for 10 days in approved accommodation. This includes unaccompanied minors coming from and/or staying in unvaccinated households. Mask wearing indoors where social distancing is not possible also remains mandatory.

The Ministry of Health has published on its website the full list of entry requirements. With these protocols in place and the diligence of those managing them, we are confident that we are doing all we can to manage the risks and protect the public.

But as we take these important steps back to normality, the reality remains that the Covid-19 virus will be an ongoing threat and Anguilla could be overrun with positive cases. Herd immunity has not yet been achieved.

Whilst the measures put in place seek to manage the risk, vaccination remains the most effective measure to protecting individual health and the health of our nation. It is vitally important that you become fully vaccinated by taking your second dose before the vaccines we have on the island expire on 31 July. If you are yet to take your first dose vaccine it’s not too late to do so. The UK Government has confirmed they will provide second dose vaccines for anyone who takes their first dose vaccine before 31 July

Please go to James Ronald Webster Park drive-thru to get vaccinated. No appointments are necessary – just turn up with a form of photo ID. Don’t regret waiting, go and get vaccinated.

Thank you, may God bless you and may God continue to bless Anguilla.
