Anguilla’s tourism fraternity is deeply saddened at the passing of the former Chief Minister, the Hon. Hubert Benjamin Hughes. The Management, staff and Board of Directors of the Anguilla Tourist Board mourn his passing and wish to offer sincere condolences to his widow, Mrs. Norma Hughes, his family, as well as the Government and people of Anguilla.

We have had the privilege of working with the Hon. Chief Minister Hughes over many years. He was an outstanding leader who was a force in the region. He was a beloved elder statesman and will be remembered for his role in regional integration over decades, and we must cherish and preserve his extraordinary legacy.

His commitment and loyalty to Anguilla and to the Caribbean was unquestionable. Not only was he a revered trailblazer and mentor. His charisma and thoughtful demeanour were evident throughout many other areas of his life.

May God bless his immediate family and the wider tourism fraternity as we mourn his loss, and may the example set by his stellar leadership give us the strength and courage to face the days and years ahead.
