Her Excellency, Governor Dileeni Daniel-Selvaratnam, resumed her tour of Anguilla on Wednesday, March 3, with visits to several places in District 3 (Valley North).

She was accompanied by the Elected Representative, Mr. Evans McNiel Rogers. During her tours to the other six constituencies he missed out on her visits as he was in quarantine, having been in the United States at the time of her visits.

The -Governor’s District 3 tour started at the community gazebo – at the historic Crocus Bay – a social meeting place for a number of Anguillian nationals. Her visits continued at the Tender Loving Care Nursing Home in North Valley, where she met Nurse Brenda Hodge and its residents; former Minister of Health and Social Development, Mr. Eric Reid, at North Side; Just Tender Care Nursing Home, also at North Side, where she met Nurse Judith Thomas and residents; Mr. Cleophas Gumbs at Native Stone in the Little Dix area; Anguilla Masonry Products at Brimigen; and The Anguillian newspaper at Stoney Ground where she met the Publisher/Editor, Mr. Nat Hodge and members of staff.

In her comments to Mr. Reid, the Governor told him: “It is a privilege to be able to meet you. I think you have been instrumental in so much of the change that has gone on. People told me that you had met with the Queen [during her visit to Anguilla in 1994] so it is a great honour to meet you today; and I thank you for your time.”

Mr. Reid replied: “I am very happy about your visit to me. In fact, I was looking forward to it. If Niel didn’t come with you, I would have asked to meet you.”

Commenting on her overall tour of District 3, and the other districts earlier, Governor Daniel-Selvaratnam told The Anguillian newspaper:

“I was so pleased that I was able to do the District 3 visits. I think all the districts’ visits have really helped me to understand Anguilla. Every district has its own character and personality – and it has been incredibly impressive to see all the different elements of District 3. This includes coming to The Anguillian and seeing the rich history here in terms of its archives and the impressive role it plays in the community – keeping everyone connected and understanding what is going on.

“It has been a really great day and I thoroughly enjoyed myself.”
