A considerably deep trench is underway towards the new campus site of the Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School, just off The Quarter main road. It is for the installation of the underground facilities.

Led by the Water Corporation of Anguilla, the first phase of the project focuses on the trenching, installation and manhole construction work. This is being carried out by Tracy’s Heavy Equipment and Pete’s Trucking.
The 330-metre trench, running along the east side of the road, passing the Omololu International School, will terminate at the site of the Comprehensive School. It has been decided that, in addition to the facilities in the trench, the existing overhead electricity infrastructure will remain in place to service other buildings in the area.
Commenting on the trenching work, the Minister of Infrastructure, Mr. Haydn Hughes, said: “This joint underground utility project will increase the resilience of the infrastructural servicing at the Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School. The Water Corporation of Anguilla, the Department of Information and Technology Services, ANGLEC, FLOW and DIGICEL have committed to completing this phase of the project by the end of March 2021.

“I apologise to the principal, staff and students of the Omololu International School who may have to subject themselves to an increase in noise and dust over the next few weeks. As I stated earlier this week, these small discomforts will bring about much better conditions for all in the near future.”

Meanwhile, the second phase of the project will be the upgrading of the roadway. This will include the provision of a concrete road, sidewalks, lighting and an upgraded junction with The Quarter main road. A separate procurement will be conducted to select a contractor for the road work.
