Commencing a weeklong tour of the projects currently under construction, Minister Haydn Hughes visited the cargo jetty at Road Bay and was given a guided update on the project by Mr. Conor Holmes (General Manager) of Edghill Associates. Since work began in February of 2020 the construction has progressed with minimal delay even during the Covid-19 Pandemic. However, recent material shortages and adverse weather conditions have shifted the completion date to June 2021.
Commenting on the ongoing development Minister Hughes shared his delight in the impeccable work that Edghill Associates continues to perform also noting that “this critical piece of infrastructure will bring to an end the dismal and alarming possibilities we would face as a nation if the current jetty would suffer an acceleration in deterioration. We are well aware of the work that was done to extend the life of the facility but if we are to move confidently into the months and years ahead this timely piece of infrastructure must be completed. I am beyond pleased with the full component of the construction team and look forward to the next phase of our Road Bay Port facility development.”
Throughout the week, Minister Hughes and his Team from MICUH will complete final preparations for the CJLIA resurfacing, the George Hill bypass and the Western Polyclinic opening.
