On Saturday 28 November, the Anguilla National Trust will be holding its first Annual Endangered Species Festival. Through this festival, the ANT aims to raise awareness of – and recognise Anguilla’s animals and plants that are at risk of extinction.
Endangered Species Festival activities will begin with a morning circuit hike from Little Bay to Blackgardens Bay and back to Little Bay. As a guided walk, individuals will have an opportunity to learn about and observe at least one or two these endangered species. Participants should meet ANT staff close to Ani Villas at 6.30 am on Saturday 28 November. The hike is ranked moderate, due to the coastal limestone terrain, and is expected to take approximately two hours. Sneakers or hiking shoes are required. Light refreshments will be provided.
Endangered Species Festival activities will continue on the afternoon of Saturday 28 November from 2.00pm to 4.00pm at the ANT office grounds (former Governor’s House in Old Ta) with face painting, arts and crafts activities, games, and demonstrations and displays.
Throughout this week, trivia questions about endangered species will be posted on the ANT Facebook page. The first individual to respond correctly each day will win an Endangered Species Festival t-shirt.
All of the Endangered Species Festival activities are open to the public and are free of charge. Refreshments will be available and t-shirts will be on sale with all proceeds going to Anguilla National Trust species conservation programmes.
