The Valley, Anguilla, November 11, 2020…… On Tuesday, November 10th, senior government officials from Anguilla’s Ministry of Tourism and the Anguilla Tourist Board held an industry briefing for members of the accommodations sector on the expanded visitor protocols which came into effect on November 1st, 2020.
The Hon. Minister of Tourism and Infrastructure, Mr. Haydn Hughes, and the Hon. Parliamentary Secretary Tourism, Mrs. Quincia Gumbs-Marie, led the team from the Ministry of Tourism, which also included Ms. Andia Ravariere and Ms. Gina Brooks. Mr. Kenroy Herbert, Chairman, and Mrs. Shellya Rogers-Webster, Manager, Corporate Affairs, represented the Anguilla Tourist Board. The teams met with reservations managers, concierges and general managers and delivered a detailed overview of the entire guest process, to ensure their understanding and compliance with the new procedures. The stakeholders were also asked to ensure that all employees and visitors adhere to the protocols.

Anguilla’s Phase Two reopening is marked by the introduction of the vacation bubble concept, designed to enable short stay visitors, those spending fewer than 14 days on the island, to experience a variety of approved activities and excursions on and off property, in a safe and secure manner. All activities offered must be conducted in accordance with general COVID-19 protocols, such as social distancing and hand hygiene practices. Advance reservations are required for all activities, with transportation provided by a certified ground operator.
The teams encouraged the stakeholders present who had not yet undertaken the inspection and certification process to make their applications to the Environmental Health Unit as soon as possible, so they would be able to secure an appointment and be cleared to receive guests. The Safe Environment Certified seal is awarded to business establishments, while the Safe Environment Approval is awarded to service and activity providers.
