Now that the Anguilla United Front is not in Government, and sits on the Opposition side of the House of Assembly, the AUF has embarked on producing a Radio Anguilla interactive programme called “Just the Facts”.
The one-hour programme takes place on Mondays from 11.00 am – 12.00 noon. It is hosted by the Leader of the Opposition, Mrs. Cora Richardson-Hodge, former Minister of Home Affairs, and her colleague, former Minister of Health and Social Development, Mr. Evans Rogers. The initial programme was on Monday, October 12.
Speaking about the programme, Mr. Rogers explained: “We will be motivating the minds of listeners, so to speak. We will be discussing issues that are relevant to Anguilla and its development; and, of course, we will be highlighting a number of dos and don’ts as we move along. This is not just another talk show where we hear all sorts of innuendos, misleading information and so on. That is the reason why we dubbed the programme ‘Just the Facts’.

“It would be an educational programme. It would be informative based on our knowledge and experience as Elected Members who were Members of Executive Council and Minsters of Government. It will be a show with a difference. The Leader of the Opposition and I were part of the former administration. We lost at the recently-concluded election… I have been involved in Anguillian politics; was part of the Government from 2005; was Leader of the Opposition and so on. So it is just not a talk shop. It is a very informative programme and we intend, as we go along, to invite guests on our programme with knowledge about how Government works. We will discuss various topics, and it will be an interactive programme between the Leader of the Opposition and I, and from time to time other members of the Loyal Opposition.”
Leader of the Opposition, Mrs. Richardson-Hodge, had this to say: “It is a pleasure to be here hosting the first ‘Just the Facts’ radio programme with you, Mr. Rogers. As you mentioned, you have a long and illustrious career as an Elected Member – and you have been around this road before as a member of the Opposition.

“This is my second time being elected and the first time on the Opposition benches – certainly the first time as Leader of the Opposition.

“As the name of this radio programme says, it is just the facts. It is important that we bring to the people the facts – particularly since we had been elected in the previous five years. And so, we understand the issues and the concerns that this current Government is facing. This is our time, as well, to highlight and bring to the general public our views based on the information that we know; information that we have; information that we see. It is for us to enlighten the general public so that we have a well-rounded picture of what is actually happening in our country.”
