The Anguilla Craft Group is assisting in providing food for families and individuals across the island. It has funded the Food Bank for September, October and November to fill food parcels to be distributed.
Blondell Rodgiers who manages the Food Bank, assisted by Claudette Bryan, said that there are 115 families who have been identified as needing help. The food parcels vary according to the size of the family – and for September some 70 families have received food. The wholesale items are purchased from Lake’s, and Verne Carty assists with the transportation.
The Craft Group meets weekly and produces many items for sale including baskets of various shapes, decorated tea towels, napkin holders, cards, tissue holders, and special items for Christmas. The money raised from the sale of the items has been donated, over the years, to several projects at the Princess Alexandra Hospital and Senior Citizens’ Homes.
Blondell expressed thanks to the Group for its donation and is looking forward to other donors also contributing.
