Department of Youth and Culture Accredits Local Band ‘Steel, Brass and Blues’ and Saxophonist Kyiv Edwards

The Department of Youth and Culture congratulates Local band ‘Steel Brass and Blues’ and Saxophonist Kyiv Edwards, on their successful completion of the department’s accreditation process.

‘Steel Brass and Blues’ seeks to lift the profile of music performances and youth education, embracing a holistic approach to developing music through the creation of original music, performances in the community and further afield. The band hopes to deliver workshops and masterclasses in music. ‘Steel Brass and Blues’ is led by Kasem Thompson and includes prominent young musicians: Casey Richardson, Kyiv Edwards, Kamal Vanterpool, Louise Fayet and Kenjé Thomas who all grew under the tutelage of Lennox Vanterpool.

Kyiv Edwards is a skilled Saxophonist known locally and regionally and has performed for numerous events. He is poised to take his talents internationally where he hopes to develop further skills and represent Anguilla as a notable Saxophonist.

The Hon. Minister of Social Development (Ms. Dee Ann Kentish-Rogers), Permanent Secretary (Dr. Bonnie Richardson – Lake), and the Director and staff of the Department of Youth and Culture express their best wishes to ‘Steel Brass and Blues’ and Kyiv Edwards.

Members of culture and arts organisations on Anguilla, who have not yet been registered or accredited by the Department, are encouraged to contact the Senior Programme Officer – Culture, Ms. Tiffany M. Rogers at tiffany.rogers@gov.ai or by telephone (264) 498 3792/497 0969. The registration and accreditation process is used to determine an organisation’s eligibility to receive funding from the Department of Youth and Culture.
