It is still early, following the Anguilla Government’s decision for tourists to apply to remotely work and stay on the island for an extended period, through an application process which came into effect on August 21. But this was one of the high agenda items at a meeting of the Anguilla Tourist Board on Thursday, August 27.

The offer to the tourists is in relation to the planned soft opening of the island’s hospitality industry, starting with villas.

Manager of the Tourist Board’s Corporate Affairs Office, Mrs. Shellya Rogers-Harrigan, spoke to

Meeting of the Anguilla Tourist Board

newspaper about the meeting. “We are discussing the contract for the entity that is dealing with the responses coming in through the application portal for the re-opening,” she stated.

“The responses have been quite positive. We started out quite well. We have a number of individuals who are interested in long-term stays. We have a number of persons who own villas and other properties on the island who are interested in coming back; and we are hoping to see an even increased interest over the coming weeks.”

The entity, dealing with the application portal, referred to by Mrs. Rogers-Harrigan, is Thoughtful Digital Agency, a local company owned and managed by Ms. Tahira Banks and team.
