The sixth Annual National Youth Awards is around the corner and the Department of Youth Culture (DYC) is working hard to organise and execute another exhilarating celebration of Anguilla’s outstanding youth. Nomination are now being accepted for this spectacular event, which awards young persons who have shown excellence in personal development, leadership and public service.
Youth between the age of 13 and 35 and/or youth based organisations, whose work exemplifies the Government’s aspirations for youth development are eligible, if they demonstrate outstanding commitment in areas such as: governance, leadership, youth empowerment, youth innovation, youth volunteerism, youth entrepreneurship, and youth excellence in academia, sports, culture and the arts.
Successful candidates will be recognised and rewarded for their accomplishments in fourteen (14) categories, namely:
1. Outstanding Youth Organisation or Individual for Faith-Based Achievements
2. Community Service Award
3. Outstanding Youth in Entrepreneurship
4. Friend of Youth Award
5. Esteemed Volunteer Award
6. Academic and Extra Curricula Excellence Award (Secondary Level)
7. Academic and Extra Curricula Excellence Award (Tertiary Level)
8. Outstanding Youth or Youth Group in Sport
9. Outstanding Youth in Visual Arts
10. Outstanding Youth in Media
11. Outstanding Youth in Performing Arts (music, drama, dance)
12. Outstanding Youth in Literary Arts (writing, poetry)
13. Excellence in Leadership Award
14. Outstanding Youth Worker Award
The top three nominees and the winner will be honoured at the 6th Annual National Youth Award, slated for Saturday 3rd October, 2020 at Teachers’ Resource Centre from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm.
Nomination forms are available from the Department of Youth and Culture during working hours (8:00 am – 4:00 pm), Monday through Friday.
All completed nomination forms, with supporting material, must be returned to the Department of Youth and Culture on or before Monday 14th September, 2020 by 4:00 pm. The submission of a nomination is not a guarantee that the nominee will be chosen by the National Youth Awards Committee.
