A hand-set was also donated by Digicel to a student of the Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School and the company also engaged in the planting of a tree. “All of the prizes were won on the basis of the garden displays which the students of these schools created,” Dr. Hodge, Chairperson of the Flower and Garden Show of the Anguilla Beautification Club, said.
She said that the aim of the garden show was to encourage the people of Anguilla to beautify the island. “It also demonstrates the creativity of our people and to show all the little things they can do not only to beautify Anguilla, but improve their health,” she said. “This year we had the Agricultural Department putting on a magnificent display of all their produce.”
Patricia Baird, President of the Club, congratulated the students of the schools for participating in the displays and hoped that they would encourage other students to become involved in the next event. “This is the time for you start to prepare, so that you can get your ideas flowing,” she urged the students.

Mrs. Baird also encouraged members of the general public to take advantage of the rainy season. “Get your plants and villages ready in preparation for the next Flower and Garden Show in the last week of February next year,” she stated. She expressed gratitude to all sponsors and participants for their contributions to the show.
