  • Bishop Brooks, Reverend Christian and Mr Ambrose Harrigan

With the covid-19 disease internal restrictions relaxed in Anguilla, a fairly large number of persons turned out at the Service of Thanksgiving for the late Floriezell Udora Smith, of Island Harbour, at St. Augustine’s Anglican Church on Saturday, May 23.

The late Floriezell Udora Smith

A member of a large family, residing in Anguilla and the United States, she was the mother of a number of children including Mr. Oris Smith, the Island Harbour District candidate of the Anguilla United Front; sister of the Former Minister of Infrastructure, Mr. Kenneth Harrigan, and other siblings; and aunt of the recently serving Speaker of the Anguilla House of Assembly, Mr. Terry Harrigan. She was born on October 7, 1934 and passed away on April 28, 2020.
The officiating Ministers at the Service of Thanksgiving were the Rt. Rev. Errol Brooks and Rev. Raliville Christian. Following the tributes, the eulogy was delivered by the deceased’s daughter Ms. Majella Smith, via a video link from the United States.
She was eulogised as having been a beloved and humble person, a caring mother and family member. In addition to her many years in Anguilla, she sojourned in the US Virgin Islands and on the US mainland – for several years – with many of her children and other close relatives.

Mrs. Smith was laid to rest in the Sandy Hill Cemetery.
