The University of the West Indies (UWI) Open Campus Guild of Students – Anguilla Chapter is pleased to announce Ms. Anita Facey and Ms. Shyana Webster as the winners of the UWI Open Campus Anguilla – Student Guild Chair Award for Semester One 2019/2020. This is the first term that the Guild is awarding one Postgraduate winner and one Undergraduate winner.
Ms. Facey is presently a Doctoral candidate where she is enrolled in the Doctor of Educational Leadership in Higher Education programme with special interest in management of multiculturalism in educational paradigms. Ms. Facey is guided by the words of the late Martin Luther King, Jr. that “injustice anywhere, is a threat to justice everywhere”
Ms. Webster is an undergraduate student in the BSc. Economics programme, and is employed by the Government of Anguilla as a Statistical Assistant. Ms. Webster is driven by her desire to excel in the field of Economics and describes herself as someone who loves learning.
The Chair Award is a recognition award presented each semester by the Executive Body of the local Student Guild. To qualify, applicants:
• Must be registered students at the Anguilla Open Campus in an Associates, Undergraduate or Postgraduate programme;
• Must have completed a minimum of 5 Undergraduate or 2 Postgraduate courses;
• Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 and above;
• Must have completed a minimum of two courses in semester.
The Anguilla Student Guild Executive is extending heartiest congratulations to Ms. Facey and Ms. Webster on their achievements. The Guild is also wishing the students of the UWI Open Campus, as well as all students on Anguilla a rewarding and successful summer semester, as they continue to strive for excellence.
