NCC President Pastor Desmond James

The Seventh-day Adventist Church in Anguilla, and throughout the North Caribbean Conference, from St. Croix to Saba, will now be delivering its various services online.

This has been announced by the President of the St. Croix-based Conference, Pastor Desmond James. The particular portion of his announcement is as follows:

“Presently, in the North Caribbean Conference, from St. Croix to Saba, the COVID-19 has been positively identified in seven of our 10-island territories…Wherever you are it has radically impacted both our public and private lives. It has altered our agendas, crammed and crippled our commerce, paralysed and postponed our plans and programmes. There is not a moment that passes that it doesn’t occupy our conversations.

“I want you to know that the Church in the North Caribbean Conference shares your concern and gives priorities to the well-being, health and safety of its peoples and communities.

“Therefore, in light of the global precautions to lessen the transmission of COVID-19, and to ensure that we comply with the directives of our respective governmental authorities, for the next 30 days, all churches, schools, and auxiliary institutions, of the North Caribbean Conference, will heed the call to social distancing and adopt online platforms to deliver our services.

“All Sabbath services, Sunday night and Wednesday night services will be conducted through live-streaming and through radio broadcasting. All major meetings, like executive committees, will be conducted via zoom’. We invite you to stay connected and join our free digital platform.

“I want to remind you that we are not suspending or abandoning church services. No: we are adopting different methods of delivering our services to bring creative relevance to our mission in this time of crisis. I believe that when the world is at its worst, we need the church at its best.

“In a time when men’s hearts are failing them for fear; when hope is displaced, misplaced and replaced; and when life seems to be a hopeless end let us give them an endless hope: Jesus. Let us siege the moment and turn the wasted times into the best of times. Let us turn our houses into units of prayer.

“Let’s pray for those who have suffered pain and loss through sickness and death. Let us pray for our leaders that God may grant them the uncanny wisdom to make wise decisions in this time of crisis and challenge. Let us be responsible in our lifestyles…”
