To the delight of the staff of the Alwyn Allison Richardson Primary School a new staff lounge was opened following a short ceremony on Thursday, 20th February 2020.

The ceremony was chaired by Teacher Trevis Rouse in the presence of Education Officers including the Chief Education Officer, Mr. Bren Romney, representatives from DITES (Department of Infrastructure, Technology and E-Government Services), members of the present and past PTA Executives, the peripatetic teachers, the school’s Beautification Club, well-wishers, teachers and students.

President of the PTA, Ms. Shorema Richardson, gave the welcome and opening remarks. She stated that over the years, the room was never utilized for its intended purpose. The principal, Mrs. Tricia Richardson saw the dire need for a staff lounge – for the purpose of improving staff wellbeing and building a sense of togetherness. The past and present PTA Executives worked on that initiative and made the room into the beautiful lounge that it needed to be.

The cutting of the ribbon to the lounge was done by Mrs. Bernis George, and the blessing by Reverend Wilmoth Hodge.

The principal and staff expressed deep appreciation and thanks to the following for assisting in the venture: the Honourable Mr. Cardigan Connor for his generous contribution; Mrs. Bernis George and Ms. Shanette Romney for beautifying the entrance to the school; the Department of Education for its monetary contribution; the past and present PTAs for the role they played; and also to Anguilla Electronics, Mr. Keron Kentish and maintenance crew, Ms. Denecia Niles, Mrs. Caryll-Ann Fleming, Ms. Rene Henry, Mr. Tim Webster and Mr. Shaquan Ruan from DITES, Greg’s Trucking, Mrs. Esme Carty, Ms. Rushell Mitchell and Mrs. Teressa Hyliger.
