At Campus B, on Saturday, 25th January, 2020, the Spartans Football Club of the Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School released its 2020 home kit in collaboration with local apparel and merchandise brand, Young Hustlers New Generation (YHNG) who designed and supplied the stunning kit. The 2020 Spartans FC home kit, sponsored by YHNG, pays homage to the School by incorporating the School’s colours, blue and gold, into its design. The jersey is predominantly blue with a gold collar and gold trim on the sleeves and blends into purple, the Club’s traditional colour. The goalkeepers, whose uniform colours must be distinct from the outfield players, were fitted with lime green and black uniforms.
The 2020 Spartans FC jersey features the new Spartans FC club crest on the upper left chest and the YH supplier’s logo on the upper right chest. The YHNG logo is found in gold across the front of the jersey, while the player’s number and the club’s name are found on its back. The shorts are blue and feature the club crest on the right leg and the individual player number on the left leg. The kit is completed with purple socks. YHNG also supplied blue long-sleeved compression shirts to be worn under the jersey. The new Spartans FC crest was by designed by Club Captain and current longest serving player, Mr. Alrique Rogers. The new Spartans FC home kit was a collaborative effort in which players, students, parents, teachers, executive members, the Principal and partners, YHNG, all contributed elements to its final design.
In attendance at the kit launch were members of the Spartans FC and YHNG representatives, Mr. Omari Carty and Mr. Jaleel Scarborough, both footballers and former students of the ALHCS. During his school days, Jaleel played as a defender for Spartans FC. The YHNG Management Team stated that it was happy to be approached to contribute to the 2020 Spartans FC home kit and seized the opportunity to be included in such a partnership which has throughout the years moulded its members to perform as a team and a unit, bringing to life the mantra of YHNG, “Togetherness by any means necessary.” YHNG further extended its well wishes to the team in its upcoming 2020 season.
President of the Spartans Football Club, Mr. Khamal Harding Hodge stated “ On behalf of the Executive Committee of Spartans Football Club, I would like to thank everyone that attended our kit launch. Special thanks to our 1st Vice President and Head of Marketing, Mrs. Kendisha Hall-Prentice for organising the event, to our Principal, Mrs. Rita Celestine-Carty, for her continued support and for her role in inspiring the new design and to photographer, Shem Olton, for lending his time and services.”
Mr. Harding Hodge continued “We are happy and quite relieved that we have been able to launch our new 2020 home kit. Recently, we were unsure if and how we would be able to afford much needed new uniforms. We are immensely grateful for our new partner and uniform supplier YHNG for its creative input, invaluable contribution and its pledge to support Spartans FC going forward. With our budget constraints and the season fast approaching, it was crucial for the Club to find external assistance. When we reached out to YHNG, they instantly jumped at the opportunity to come on board with us. This is a great work but it is just one of the many great works of YHNG in our community. As we look to progress our club, we are hopeful that more community partners will be as supportive and generous as YHNG.”
Spartans FC replica jerseys will be available for purchase by fans and supporters within the next few weeks as the Club continues its fundraising efforts.
Spartans FC is a non-profit sports club which was founded over thirty years ago and serves as part of the extra-curricular enrichment programme at the ALHCS. The current Club Head Coach is Mr. Meguel Walker who joined the Club in October 2019. The Club is affiliated with the Anguilla Football Association (AFA) and competes in its annual male tournaments. Our main objective is to foster, promote, teach and develop the game of football at the ALHCS and in doing so help our players to reach their full potential. Through our youth development programme, we hope to help young individuals to build and develop their character as resourceful and responsible members of their communities by providing opportunities, through the game of football, for their mental, physical, social and leadership development. Club membership is open to all current students of the ALHCS, alumni of the ALHCS, parents of current students and alumni, present and past teachers of the ALHCS and other staff members and community members interested in supporting the Club.
