Four females and eight males took their oath of office to become members of the Royal Anguilla Police Force at a closed-door ceremony held at Police Headquarters on Tuesday 7th January 2020. The swearing-in session was conducted by Commissioner of Police, Mr. Paul Morrison OBE, QPM. On hand to witness the ceremony was Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mr. Elliot Forbes, and Head of the Corporate Development Department, Inspector Randolph Yearwood, among other departmental heads.
The recruits are to undergo the next six months of training which will be conducted in Anguilla. It is the first time that such recruit training will be conducted locally. Previously, the recruit training was done at the Regional Police Training Centre in Barbados. Over the next six months they will engage themselves in a comprehensive training programme which will be delivered by a dedicated training staff. Occasionally, visiting lecturers will deliver selected subject areas.
As part of the training, the recruits will be posted on attachments at institutions that work closely with the RAPF – to give them a better understanding of our social partners functions, and to help foster the integration process between the RAPF and the communities of Anguilla.
At the swearing-in ceremony, Commissioner Morrison emphasized, to the recruits, the importance of the RAPF code of ethics and why it’s important that they maintain these attributes. All recruits then signed the Code of Ethics as a pledge to uphold their commitment to the communities on Anguilla. This recruit training is directly under the supervision of Inspector Kenneth Millette.
